New 911 Speedster (997)
Only 356 were built - to celebrate the original 356 Speedster from the 1950s - finished in either Pure Blue or Carrara White. Each car comes with a numbered plaque celebrating the car's position in the series, but owners can choose this number if it isn't already taken. So it is destined to become one of the most exclusive Porsches ever produced.
The new Speedster combines comfort and performance with full leather trim extending through the entire cabin. It has Porsche's excellent semi-automatic, seven-speed PDK paddle-shift gearbox (no manual option is available). And it has every other amenity you might reasonably expect in a car costing £144,000

That's not to say the Speedster has gone soft. It gets the upgraded engine from the new 911 GTS, a limited slip differential, sports exhaust system, carbon ceramic brakes, and active suspension management.
It has the low, steeply raked windscreen of the original Speedster and a low sleek line with the hood raised or stored away under the double humped rear fairing. It is a committed driver's car which retains some of the magic of the original.
The 3.8-litre flat six delivers 408 hp (300 kW), 23 hp more in comparison with the 911 Carrera S. With its average consumption of 27.43 mpg the new Speedster is a good example of Porsche Intelligent Performance.
The folding roof is manually operated but straightforward to erect or stow away. It is also claimed to be completely watertight
There is also exemplary protection for driver and passengers in the new 911 Speedster. Especially for this model, the Porsche engineers further improved the rollover protection system which is standard in all open-top Porsche cars.
